Reserve guard Marvin Bolden scored 10 points and had 2 steals at Martin Methodist, 12/6
Reserve guard Marvin Bolden scored 10 points and had 2 steals at Martin Methodist, 12/6
(Pulaski, Tennessee) - Undefeated Martin Methodist College (11-0, 2-0 TSAC) led by as many as 12 points in the first half and weathered several comeback attempts by Mid-Continent University (2-8; 0-1 TSAC) enroute to a 68-66 victory over the Cougars, in TSAC conference men's basketball action in Pulaski, Tennessee, Saturday, Dec. 6. After MCU guard Donovan Willis (East Orange, NJ/East Orange HS/Essex County College) tied the game at 66-66 with a basket and free throw with 20 seconds left, Aubre Bodison hit the game-winning basket for Martin Methodist with two seconds left.

Mid-Continent takes a lengthy break for finals and the Christmas holiday, returning to action, Saturday, January 3, at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas, in the 4:00 p.m. second game of a TSAC doubleheader with the schools' women's teams playing at 2:00.

After Martin Methodist led 23-11 with 7:10 left in the first half, Mid-Continent sliced the lead to 34-31 on a three-pointer by reserve guard Marvin Bolden (Fredericksburg, VA/Courtland HS/Frederick CC, MD) with 58 seconds left and trailed 36-31 at halftime. In the second half, the score was tied five times, and Mid-Continent took its biggest lead of the game on Bolden's hoop, 42-39, with 13:37 left in the game. But MMC went on an 8-1 run over the next 3 minutes and led 49-43 with 10:01 remaining. Again MCU fought back and tied the game at 58-58 with 3:40 left. MCU also came back to tie the game at 61-61, 63-63, and 66-66 with 20 seconds remaining on Willis' three-point play.

Missing its leading scorer and rebounding, 6-8 junior center Kenny Thomas (Orange, NJ/Orange HS/Essex County College), who was averaging 13 points and 9 rebounds per game, MCU shot .379 (25-66) from the field, made 5 of 17 three-pointers and 11 of 17 free throws, committed 19 turnovers, and narrowly lost the rebounding battle, 33-29.

In Thomas' place, junior Santez Johnson (Tupelo, MS/Tupelo HS/Itawamba CC) scored 16 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Willis added 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists, and Bolden finished with 10 points and 2 steals. Reserve forward Joshua Woodley (Lake Worth, FL/Santaluces HS/Palm Beach CC) contributed 11 points and 3 three-pointers, and guard Aaron Pearson (Baton Rouge, LA/Southern Laboratory HS/Cabrillo CC, Calif.) came off the bench for 6 points and 4 steals.

MMC shot .510 (25-49) from the field for the game, made 4 of 16 three-pointers and 14 of 21 free throws and committed 24 turnovers. Bodison led all scorers with 23 points and also grabbed 5 rebounds. Mark Mangum added 12 points, 8 assists, and 3 rebounds, and Julius Virgo hit 5 of his 7 shots and totaled 13 points, 3 blocked shots, and 6 rebounds. Forward Will Shackleford added 7 points and 7 rebounds.

Puka's Kids

Hi Everyone! It's me...YeVette aka Puka. Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I know pretty much everyone has seen my son Hubert Linzell (20 months...4 more months to 2 years old!), but here is my new addition, Olivia Sky Marie (almost 6 months!). Love you all!

Phyllis, and the Twins at the Community Garden

Brussel Sprouts, Cabbage then Collards top-left.

Another view Top view of the cabbage, I took two home!
Spring Cabbage taste better eaten young.

Berea is excited snapping off Collard leaves!

On Saturday, I took Mark and Berea with me to Fodor Farm. My little side-kick, Imani was away in New York visiting her folks. Berea and Imani have been to the farm with me, but it was Marks first time. He came reluctantly but with a bit of bullying from me he came, and had a fantastic time.

I was Hoping that you would see the little DVD Slide-show that I did, but I couldn't get it to load so I did some pictures. There were about 150 pictures, but here a re just a few. Enjoy!

Mark is more excited snapping Collard leaves -- they tasted great!

I am growing the following vegetables at Fodor Farm:

  1. Jalapeno Peppers

  2. Sweet Peppers

  3. Bell Peppers

  4. Hot Peppers (it has a name I can't remember)

  5. Honey Dew Melon

  6. Cucumber

  7. Snow Peas

  8. Bush Beans

  9. Collard Greens

  10. Cabbage

  11. Brussel Sprout

  12. Tomato

  13. Eggplant (Purple)

  14. Eggplant (white)

  15. Zuchini

  16. More cabbage

I have two plots 4' X 12' at Fodor Farm which is Norwalk's Community Garden.

My friend Daisy Marie goes out there with me, she has a garden and we share another garden that was abandoned by a friend. You will see photos of many gardens and I did not tag which ones were mine. You will see because I'm picking from one of them.

At home, I'm growing Zuchini, Tomato, Celery, Brussel Sprout, Cabbage, - this garden was a Father's Day gift to Melvyn.

I am also growing herbs - Mint, Lemon-Balm Mint, Oregano, Basil, Sweet Italian Basil, Rosemary, Thyme, and Parsley.

Peoria taught me how to garden, just in case you're wondering.

Love to you all!

In Memoriam of the late - Peoria Hollin Scruggs Bolden (Momma) - May 25, 1916
If I missed any May birthdays -- sorry!
I heard that of all 18 children of Jefferson and Peoria -- there are actually 2 months that no birthdates occurred, is this true???

Norwalk Connecticut Weather

Let me tell you something.
I am NOT complaining, compared to all the earthquakes, tsunami's floods, wildfires, tornadoes (sp?), sinkholes, croccodile and alligator invasions, grizzly bears chasing folks at Yosimite Park, rattlesnake infestations, snow in Wyoming 2 days ago - nope, not complaining at all with a week of 90+ degree weather, air conditioners on full blast making electric bills go sky-high after a winter with $750.00 oil tank fill-ups at a time --- nawww, I ain't complaining about the weather at all!

Hey -- some of ya'll remember Sis Mae (Granny) Praising God til her wig flew off -- well, this ain't Granny but it sure brings back the memories, she's done it a few times!

It's GOOD TO BE ALIVE YA'LL!!!!!!!!

BLESSINGS!!
PHYLLIS
