(Pulaski, Tennessee) - Undefeated Martin Methodist College (11-0, 2-0 TSAC) led by as many as 12 points in the first half and weathered several comeback attempts by Mid-Continent University (2-8; 0-1 TSAC) enroute to a 68-66 victory over the Cougars, in TSAC conference men's basketball action in Pulaski, Tennessee, Saturday, Dec. 6. After MCU guard Donovan Willis (East Orange, NJ/East Orange HS/Essex County College) tied the game at 66-66 with a basket and free throw with 20 seconds left, Aubre Bodison hit the game-winning basket for Martin Methodist with two seconds left.
 
     Mid-Continent takes a lengthy break for finals and the Christmas holiday, returning to action, Saturday, January 3, at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas, in the 4:00 p.m. second game of a TSAC doubleheader with the schools' women's teams playing at 2:00.
 
     After Martin Methodist led 23-11 with 7:10 left in the first half, Mid-Continent sliced the lead to 34-31 on a three-pointer by reserve guard Marvin Bolden (Fredericksburg, VA/Courtland HS/Frederick CC, MD) with 58 seconds left and trailed 36-31 at halftime. In the second half, the score was tied five times, and Mid-Continent took its biggest lead of the game on Bolden's hoop, 42-39, with 13:37 left in the game. But MMC went on an 8-1 run over the next 3 minutes and led 49-43 with 10:01 remaining. Again MCU fought back and tied the game at 58-58 with 3:40 left. MCU also came back to tie the game at 61-61, 63-63, and 66-66 with 20 seconds remaining on Willis' three-point play.
 
     Missing its leading scorer and rebounding, 6-8 junior center Kenny Thomas (Orange, NJ/Orange HS/Essex County College), who was averaging 13 points and 9 rebounds per game, MCU shot .379 (25-66) from the field, made 5 of 17 three-pointers and 11 of 17 free throws, committed 19 turnovers, and narrowly lost the rebounding battle, 33-29.
 
     In Thomas' place, junior Santez Johnson (Tupelo, MS/Tupelo HS/Itawamba CC) scored 16 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Willis added 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists, and Bolden finished with 10 points and 2 steals. Reserve forward Joshua Woodley (Lake Worth, FL/Santaluces HS/Palm Beach CC) contributed 11 points and 3 three-pointers, and guard Aaron Pearson (Baton Rouge, LA/Southern Laboratory HS/Cabrillo CC, Calif.) came off the bench for 6 points and 4 steals.
 
     MMC shot .510 (25-49) from the field for the game, made 4 of 16 three-pointers and 14 of 21 free throws and committed 24 turnovers. Bodison led all scorers with 23 points and also grabbed 5 rebounds. Mark Mangum added 12 points, 8 assists, and 3 rebounds, and Julius Virgo hit 5 of his 7 shots and totaled 13 points, 3 blocked shots, and 6 rebounds. Forward Will Shackleford added 7 points and 7 rebounds.
